Sunday 28th May saw Reading FC Women take on Birmingham City Ladies FC in their last home match of the Spring Series.
Prior to the game, Aylesbury United Ladies & Girls FC’s U10s and U12s were invited to take part in a Reading Women Sister Club Football Festival at Amersham & Wycombe College. Joining the Ducks were teams from Berks County FC and Wokingham & Emmbrook FC.
In addition to playing 5-a-side matches against the other Sister Club teams, the girls were put through their paces in a training session delivered by a Reading FC coach. Despite the sweltering heat, all the girls enjoyed the experience, with Megan Henriques being voted Player of the Day for the older age group and Demi Dennington winning the Keepie Uppie Challenge.
Following the Festival some of the girls travelled to Adams Park to watch the Reading Women v Birmingham City Ladies match. Rosalina Byrne and Grace Henley from the U10s were chosen to be mascots for the game and proudly lead the Reading Women players onto the pitch, while Katie Norman and Demi Dennington from the U12s volunteered to be flag bearers and ball girls.
Over 50 players, family and friends from Aylesbury United’s U10s, U12s, U14s and Ladies teams watched Reading Women draw 1:1 against Birmingham City Ladies in what turned out to be a feisty encounter.
